“Why are you reading those prohibition pamphlets?” asked Ernest.
“We must be ready dear brother.”
“Ready for what?”
“When people are free to drink again they will want their wine. People will want to drink legally and not behind closed doors. It will be our chance to become rich and famous. One day we will live in a splendid home. Our beloved Modesto provides us the perfect environment. It has the best combination of climate, slope, and soil. Rosa, our saintly mother in law, has promised us $5,000 to start our venture. Our wine must be ready in time.”
